THE WINERY

The Fenton Winery & Brewery began life, simply, as the
Fenton Winery.  Opened in January 2008, the winery
began as a "typical" winery - we had 15 wines available
for sampling at our tasting bar and to go by the bottle.
We also had wine available as a "Make Your Own Wine"
batch, and food consisted of cheese and crackers.

My how we've changed!  We now have over 20 wines
available (3 are on tap!), running the gamut from white to
red & fruit wines, and dry to sweet.  We also have a
steady rotation of seasonal wines and specialties such
as our Mulled Red Wine in the winter, or our House Port
that has been fortified  with French barrel-aged Brandy.
Our menu has also dramatically changed to offer a broader selection of small plate meals and specialty cheeses, coffees and desserts.

Winery - Racking wine between tanks

No vineyards here.  We import our juice from all over the world, but primarily from California.  All of the fermentation and post-fermentation work is done onsite in our winery.  The winery operations consist of (3) 300 liter stainless steel fermentation tanks, (1) 200 liter tank, and (4) 100 liter tanks.  We also have a number of oak barrels that are used to age three of our red wines - the Barolo, Shiraz and Red Zinfandel.

Bottling is done using a single valve vacuum bottle filler.  All of the corking is done by hand using a floor corker one bottle at a time.

We are proud to have received several awards in the past few years.  We we're selected "Metro Detroit's Best Winery" by the Detroit Young Professionals, and were selected a 2011 Best of Genesee "Favorite Wine Selection" from the Flint Journal.  We were also honored to be selected a "Genesee 10 to Watch" by the eTeam and the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce.
